
Volunteer Center of Cedar Valley Partnerships with the University of Northern Iowa
Recently the Volunteer Center of Cedar Valley (VCCV) has joined forces with the University of Northern Iowa for an 18-month pilot program to promote volunteerism, serve as the resource and coordination center for volunteers and as a catalyst in building coalitions and community partnerships at the university level.
Since the elimination of the Volunteer UNI program in 2005, VCCV member agencies have noted a dramatic decline in UNI volunteer and have expressed an urgent need for a replacement program. Agencies depend on the participation of college-aged students top provide both the quantity of volunteers they need and a continually renewing influx of new ideas. The VCCV hopes to provide the University community on-site support to understand volunteerism and its benefits to both the community and the volunteer.
