Frequently Asked Questions

Who can join VCCV?

Every community-based, non-profit organization in the Cedar Valley is encouraged to join VCCV.

Besides the online match-making service, what else does VCCV provide my organization?

The VCCV is dedicated to helping organizations maximize the potential of volunteers. A modest annual fee will let your organization participate in volunteer fairs, workshops and special events to teach your staff how to best recruit, retain, manage and train volunteers of all ages. It also will give you access to training and recruitment materials provided through our affiliation with the Points of Light Foundation.

Member agencies of VCCV will also receive a subscription to the Connections Newsletter, will have access to the University of Northern Iowa's students through a volunteer fair and publicize volunteer opportunities in the student e-newsletter, access to information in our resource library of books and videos, networking & training opportunities with leaders in the field, and ongoing support and consultation on volunteer management issues.

How much will that cost?

In order to ensure that our services are not cost prohibitive for your agency, the fee is based on a sliding scale in proportion to your annual budget. Refer to the membership grid below to determine your agency's annual dues.

Why should we want young adults as volunteers?

Young adults want to make a difference in the Cedar Valley. Volunteers see the opportunity as critical for their college resumes, so they bring great motivation to the job.

How else will we get our volunteer needs known in the community?

VCCV hosts a volunteer fair annually with the University of Northern Iowa. We also will publish a weekly column in The Courier newspaper that will advertise volunteer opportunities. Additionally, our network of professionals and volunteers is designed to tap into the community.

The best way we can help you is by our constant presence in the Cedar Valley school districts. We will be working closely with high school principals and guidance departments to place students in volunteer jobs.
