Volunteer Opportunities
The Waterloo Senior Center is looking for volunteers to deliver hot meals to homebound, frail, and elderly individuals in Waterloo. Volunteers will provide their own vehicle and auto insurance. Mileage is not reimbursed. A valid driver's license is required. Opportunities exist Monday through Friday mornings. Volunteers age 18 and over are welcome.
Allen Hospital is looking for volunteers to serve as a waiting room host/hostess to provide hospitality to waiting room visitors; coordinate communication between medical staff & patient families; answer phones and facilitate visiting hours with nurses. Opportunities exist Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. Volunteers age 18 and over are welcome.
The Boys and Girls Club is looking for volunteers with musical experience to engage, educate and involve youth in their music studio. Opportunities exist Monday through Friday after school and evenings. Volunteers age 18 and over are welcome.
Birthright needs hotline volunteers to assist by answering calls. In addition to answering calls, volunteers will attend monthly volunteer education meetings and follow through on hotline letters sent to the Birthright office. This position can be done largely from home, taking calls directly from the hotline in your home. Opportunities exist daily with flexible times. Volunteers age 18 and over are welcome.
The Cedar Bend Humane Society is looking for volunteers to walk dogs at the Cedar Bend Humane Society. Opportunities exist daily from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Volunteers age 14 and under with an adult or 15 and over are welcome.
The Cedar Valley Arboretum is looking for volunteers to adopt and maintain a garden for the season. Weed, water, plant, and provide general maintenance of a specific garden. Instruction on the care for the garden will be provided in advance. Opportunities exist daily through October 31, with flexible times throughout the day. Volunteers ages 18 and over are welcome.
The YWCA needs volunteers to assist the staff with activities for children in the before and after-school care program. Volunteers will assist with games, crafts and snacks. Opportunities exist Monday through Friday before and after school. Volunteers age 15 and over are welcome.
