MLK Day of Service is an opportunity for individuals and families to get engaged in the community and solve social problems. Service breaks down barriers by bringing people from different backgrounds, cultures, and experiences together – volunteering can bring people of all ages together and create stronger communities.

The Northeast Iowa Food Bank in partnership with University of Northern Iowa and the Volunteer Center of Cedar Valley are excited to offer Pack the Dome Martin Luther King Day of Service event at the UNI-Dome on January 19th, 2026. This event is expected to be the single largest volunteer event held in the Cedar Valley.

10:00 - 11:30 a.m.
Participants will help package food packs for the Northeast Iowa Food Bank in support of their Back Pack Program. This program serves 3,440 children at 155 different schools across northeast Iowa each week. Before school lets out for the weekend children receive assembled bags of kid-friendly meals and snacks that can fit in their school bags.
